In 1996 as you may know, the USGTF-Korea was the very first organization in the country of Korea to offer the service of training and certification of golf teaching professionals. Mr. Sammy Oh had approached me with the concept of an agreement and of course I thought this was an excellent idea since the PGA of Korea did not provide this opportunity.

For several years we sent over teaching professionals from the United States and with the help of Korean translators, opened the door and provided opportunity for several thousand Korean golf teaching professionals.

Eventually, and as planned, well-trained Korean examiners took over the process of providing certification courses to those wanting to share their passion for teaching golf. Of course from these humble beginnings, the USGTF-Korea helped lead the way to much initial growth and popularity of the game. It also paved the way for much national and international success on tour for many Korean golfers. Mr. Sammy Oh therefore played a vital role and was very instrumental in regard to the history of Korean golf instruction.

As the USGTF continued to grow, the World Golf Teachers Federation was formed. This became an amalgamation of golf teaching professionals from many golfing nations. And as the internet began bringing us all closer together we became no longer members from just individual nations, but also a worldwide family of golf teaching professionals.

As in any organization some changes are inevitable and in order to continue on a path that is beneficial both personally and professionally to USGTF-Korea members, I felt a change in leadership had to be made.

I have known Mr. Brandon Lee for many years now. He is a very well educated, honest individual with a strong work ethic. Over the past 6 years, Brandon has successfully conducted Foreign Language Courses here in the United States. He continually stays abreast with the very latest in golf teaching methodology and shares this information with a passion to his students. I am confident that Mr. Lee’s ideas and dedication will have a great impact on the future development of USGTF-Korea.

I ask that you reach out to Mr. Brandon Lee and support him in his new endeavor as president of USGTF-Korea. And I welcome each of you to our worldwide family of golf teaching professionals and professional golf coaches.

이번에 새로 임명된 USGTF-KOREA 신임회장 브랜든 리씨를 소개 해 드립니다.

아시다시피, USGTF-KOREA는 한국에서는 처음으로 전문골프지도자를 선발하고 양성하는 서비스를 제공한 조직으로1996년에 시작된 단체입니다. 1995년Sammy Oh씨는, Korea PGA 가 골프전문지도자 양성 사업을 하고 있지 않은 점에 착안하여, 한국에서도 저희USGTF의 Branch를 설립하여 골프 전문지도자양성사업을 해 보자는 훌륭한 아이디어를 제시하였습니다.

우리는1996년 한국에USGTF-KOREA가 출범한 후에도 미국 본부의 골프교육 전문가들을 몇 년에 걸쳐 지속적으로 파견하여 한국어 통역을 통해서 수 많은 골프 애호가들을 대상으로 한 전문골프지도자 양성사업을 시작하게 되었습니다.

그 결과, 이러한 과정을 통해서 훌륭히 양성된 한국의 시험관들에 의해, 골프를 가르치는 일에 대한 열정을 나누고자 하는 사람들을 대상으로 한USGTF의 전문골프지도자 양성 과정을 자체적으로 운영할 수 있게 되었습니다. 이처럼 미약한 시작에도 불구하고, USGTF-KOREA는 비약적인 발전을 이룩해 내며 초창기 한국 골프 산업의 많은 성장과 골프의 대중화에 기여하게 되었습니다. 또한, 수많은 국내외의 투어 경기에서 한국의 많은 선수들이 성공을 경험할 수있도록 하는 길을 여는데에도 이바지 하였습니다. 따라서, Sammy Oh씨는 한국골프교육의 역사에 있어서 아주 중요하고 핵심적인 역할을 하게 된 것입니다.

저희들은USGTF-KOREA를 비롯하여 세계적으로 많은 Branch를 갖게 된 USGTF의 지속적인 성장으로 인해 현재는 많은 골프 국가의 연합으로 발돋움하여 세계 골프 티칭 연맹(WGTF)도 설립하게 되었습니다. 그 위에 인터넷 덕분에 더 이상 개별 국가에서 활동하는 회원뿐만 아니라 골프 교육 전문가의 세계적인 가족모임으로 성장을 하기에 이르게 되었습니다.

USGTF가 계속해서 성장함에 따라, 저희는 WGTF(세계골프지도자연맹)을 창설하게 되었습니다. 이 기구는 골프를 하는 세계의 수많은 국가들에 있는 전문골프지도자들의 공동체가 되었습니다. 인터넷이 시작으로 우리 모두가 더 가까와 짐에 따라, 우리는 더 이상 각각의 독립된 나라의 회원들이 아니라, 전문골프지도자의 글로벌 가족모임이 된 것입니다.

그러나, 어떤 조직에서도 시대의 흐름에 따른 변화가 있듯이, 저는 USGTF-KOREA 회원들에게도 개인적인 이익과 직업적인 이익을 모두 지속해 가기 위해서는USGTF-KOREA의 리더십의 변화가 필요하다고 느꼈습니다.

저는 현재까지 USGTF 와 WGTF 의 부회장을 맡고 있는 브랜든 리씨와 오랫동안 함께 일을 하면서 동거 동락을 해 왔습니다. 그는 지금까지 미국에서 강한 직업 윤리의식 을 가지고 우수한 교육프로그램 을 바탕으로 본부의 외국어 시험과정을 이끌어 왔습니다. 그는 지속적으로 최신의 골프지도법을 연구해 왔고 이를 제자들과 공유하는데에도 열정을 다해 왔습니다. 저는 브랜든 리씨의 아이디어와 헌신이 향후USGTF-KOREA의 발전에 커다란 역할을 할 것임을 자신하는 바입니다.

아울러, 저는 브랜든 리씨가 USGTF-KOREA 신임 회장으로서 새로운 사업들을 해 나아갈 수 있도록 여러분들께 많은 관심과 지원을 부탁 드리는 바입니다. 마지막으로, 저는 전문골프지도자들과 전문골프코치들의 세계적인 가족공동체에 오신 한분 한분의 여러분 모두를 환영합니다.
